Florida Arbor Day

January 19, 2024

Garden clubs across the state will plant more than 400 trees on January 19, 2024, to celebrate Florida Arbor Day and the 100th anniversary of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs (FFGC). Clubs are busy now finding their planting sites and choosing their trees.

TGC ceremony will be held at Chiaramonte Elementary School. 6001 S Himes Ave at 9:45 am.
If you would like to attend please reach out to Courtney Hoening, Civics Chair,  to RSVP and for more information about how to check into the school.

Florida celebrates Arbor Day in January because many trees are dormant (not actively growing) and lose less water through transpiration (evaporation of water from leaves) this time of year, making them easier to transplant without putting them through too much stress. *
