Bridal Showcase
The April date for the showcase gave us perfect weather and an enthusiastic crowd. The elite vendors were truly world class. Sarah Fairbairn of One Fine Day put her organizing skills and great ‘bank’ of people resources to work. The result was an appealing program featuring DJ music, and from Breezin a string quartet and a saxophone serenade. An impromptu fashion show and champagne served with stemware added an informal elegance. The impressive vendors were enthused by the guests, ”All quality brides!” they said. Our next Showcase will be held January 17, 2010, a Sunday . See you there.

Go Gardeners
These photos are from a Go Gardener trip that our club made to the Echo Gardens in Ft. Myers. The ECHO project is to fight world hunger and they research ways of gardening that could be used in developing countries. Examples are roof gardens and gardens in old tires. Fertilization is through water barrels enriched with manure. It was quite an experience! (More photos to follow.)
Rodman Dam Trip
Many years ago as part of the Cross Florida Barge Canal, the Oklawaha River was dammed to keep it from flowing into the St. Johns river. It may be close to being reversed. A special information session was held on the banks of the Rodman Reservoir. People from the Sierra club, Audubon and Florida Fish and Wild life spoke to explain the harmful effects the dam has on the rivers and springs and we visitors had a wonderful day on the river.
